1142-44 - Hammer Time | 3 Day Weekend
This is what I sent out to all of my speakers and I’m asking this same of you Circle of Trust!
I'm writing to ask you another huge favor. Can you please today, for the day, ignore your social media strategy and post the attached orange square? The idea is to post this orange square in solidarity with our fellow creative brothers and sisters that have lost their jobs by being fired or furloughed. In what would be the best juxtaposition of Fyred festival would be to take over this original idea of exclusive hipster elitism and own it with community, compassion, and understanding. You can always delete it at midnight or when you wake up tomorrow. But for the day, our ticket release day can you pretty pretty please post it, not for me, but for your followers that are going through some of their darkest professional days. And don't forget about those who are employed that want to help their own community. In our pre-sale announcement this morning, we have already raised over $500 in groceries for the fired and furloughed.
Here's how it works. Post the orange square IN YOUR FEED and, in your own words, send your love out to the fired and furloughed. Let them know you are thinking of them and that you care. Explain that you will be speaking at Fyred Festival that is free for all of them to attend and only $25 for anyone who is still employed. And please let them know that every ticket gets converted into a $25 grocery gift card, making the fired and furloughed the only people who get paid at Fryed festival. The only required request is you post AID.network/fyred
Every single one of you has a following that is invested in your career. And I guarantee you that 20% of your followers are unemployed. By posting this, you are giving those folks encouragement and compassion by letting them know that you are thinking about them and actively trying to do something to help/support them. If you don't invite them, with the bullshit algorithms, there's a good chance they'll never know.
I understand you have all worked hard on your social media, and I know what I'm asking, but I'm asking for the people that need this most, and it sure is hell isn't me. I have actively not overhyped this as an AID event but as a community event because that's what it truly is—a chance for us all to serve our community.
Thanks for your time and understanding!
Mark
